Summer in Columbia, Missouri is made for sunny afternoons, cold drinks, and great patios. Whether you’re new to town, thinking about moving here, or just looking for your next weekend hangout spot, there’s nothing better than grabbing a seat outdoors and soaking up the season.
As a local realtor (and self-proclaimed patio enthusiast!), I’m sharing some of my favorite spots where you can kick back, enjoy the vibe, and fall a little more in love with life in CoMo.
1. Shiloh Bar & Grill
A Columbia classic! Shiloh’s huge patio is a go-to for casual drinks, live music nights, and hanging out with friends after a Mizzou game. It’s relaxed, lively, and right in the heart of downtown.
Vibe: Sports bar meets backyard BBQ
Must-Try: Shiloh Wings and a local beer!
2. Barred Owl Butcher & Table
If you’re feeling a little fancy, Barred Owl has a beautiful, cozy patio perfect for date night or a long, slow brunch. They focus on farm-to-table food and creative cocktails. Everything feels fresh and local.

One of the things that makes Columbia special is how much people enjoy being outside — whether it’s at a favorite restaurant, on the Katy trail, or just hanging out on their own back deck. When you live here, it’s not just about the house you buy, it’s about the life you build around it.
